Deionization is a type of water treatment that removes mineral salt contaminants. The purification process specifically removes cations such as calcium, copper, iron, and sodium ions, as well as anions such as bromide and chloride.

Deionization systems work by substituting hydrogen (positive) and hydroxyl (negative) molecules for negative and positive molecules in water. Organic substances are effectively removed through filtration, which improves water quality and prevents the formation of scale deposits.

Deionization System , as the name explains is a term normally used for reduction of charged ions to very low levels. Deionization is also alternatively called as Demineralization. The deionization is normally a two stage process.
